AFANT, the peak body for recreational fishing in the Northern Territory, is launching the Land Based Fishing Guide – Darwin and Beyond, alongside NT Minister for Recreational Fishing Gerard Maley today. The 64-page guidebook is designed to connect locals and tourists to the many great fishing opportunities on offer around the Darwin region.
The new Land Based Fishing Guide has been published by AFANT with the support of the Northern Territory Government through a NT Recreational Fishing Grant. This new guide builds upon an earlier edition, with new locations, fishing tips, local intel and photography. AFANT has prepared the guide with input and review from some top local fishing gurus.
From jetties and fishing platforms to rocky headlands and tidal beaches, the Land Based Fishing Guide – Darwin and Beyond has all the info that new and experienced fishers need to know about each spot. This includes info on the best baits or lures, as well as the best tides and times of year for different places and fish species. The book includes land-based locations in and around Darwin, Palmerston, Dundee and Katherine.
The Land Based Fishing Guide – Darwin and Beyond is now available for purchase at local tackle stores and the Top End Visitor Information Centre.
Quotes attributable to AFANT CEO David Ciaravolo:
“At AFANT we are passionate about connecting Territorians and visiting tourists with the great fishing that the Territory has on offer, so we are thrilled to launch the new Land Based Fishing Guide – Darwin and Beyond.
“Fishing from the shore in the Top End is exciting for visitors and a valued part of the Territory lifestyle, but new spots can be a bit tricky at first, with big tides, seasonal changes, and the need to be Crocwise. This new guide provides photos and tips for fishing at different tides, as well as advice on the best fishing techniques and key messages to help people stay safe.
“We thank the Northern Territory Government for their support through the NT Recreational Fishing Grants Scheme, and we thank Minister Maley for joining us to launch the guidebook today.”
